Seven Against Thebes, in Greek mythology, the seven champions who were killed fighting against Thebes after the fall of Oedipus, the king of that city. Η σύγκρουση των γιων του Οιδίποδα για τον θρόνο της Θήβας, στο κατ’ εξοχήν πολεμικό δράμα του Αισχύλου. Ο Ετεοκλής αρνείται να παραδώσει την εξουσία στον Πολυνείκη, κι ο τελευταίος οδηγεί ξένο στρατό ενάντια στη γενέτειρά του. Στην έβδομη πύλη των Θηβών τα δύο αδέλφια έρχονται αντιμέτωπα και αλληλοσκοτώνονται για να επαληθεύσει η κατάρα του πατέρα τους «να μοιραστούν με σίδερο τη βασιλεία».
